A new teacher and a new venue for UK clinics in 2020!
Master teacher Sylvia Stössel takes over the mantle from Philippe Karl:
Now in his 70's, the founder of the world renowned School of Légèreté, Philippe Karl, has decided it's time to reduce his international teaching commitments.
The licensed teachers, students of the School and the many hundreds of spectators who have joined us have been incredibly fortunate to benefit from M. Karl's teaching in person over the last 9 years. We all wish him many more years of success and good health with which to enjoy a lighter workload as well as continuing to enjoy riding his Hanoverian gelding, High Noon.
With master teacher, Sylvia Stössel, we will be in very good hands going forward. Sylvia has herself been a student of Philippe Karl for nearly 20 years and is one of very few people to hold the teacher's licence of the School at Level 4.
Since 2011, Sylvia has been running teacher's courses of the School of Légèreté in Australia and comes with a very high reputation for quality and enthusiasm in her teaching.
With her excellent command of English and a great sense of humour, Sylvia is the perfect 'people person' to lead the School of Légèreté in the UK into our second decade of growth.
A new venue
After nine years of very successful clinics with Philippe Karl at the Holistic Equitation Centre, course organisers Derek and Jo Clark have taken the difficult decision to relocate the clinics of the School of Légèreté while they continue to recover from the effects of the very serious car crash they suffered in 2017. From now on, therefore, clinics will be held at The Unicorn Equestrian Centre at Stow-on-the-Wold
"While we are very sorry not to be able to continue hosting at our own venue, we know that the facilities and organisation avalable at the Unicorn Trust will enable the School to continue to grow and reach even greater success in its second decade in the UK with Sylvia"
The Unicorn Centre offers a high quality indoor arena, extensive seating for spectators, conference facilities for theory lectures and easy onsite parking.
There is lots of accommodation nearby (we'll send you a list when you book your ticket) and camping at the centre is possible by arrangement.
There are pubs, restaurants and supermarkets in the area and food may be available at the venue itself (subject to meeting the centre's minimum booking numbers requirements).
Dates for 2020
Clinics will be held at The Unicorn Centre in 2020 on the following dates:
|April||28th to 30th||(Tue - Thu) - CANCELLED|
|August||11th to 13th||(Tue - Thu) - CANCELLED|
|October||6th to 8th||(Tue - Thu)|
Each clinic will comprise 3 full days of lessons starting no earlier than 8am. Detailed timings will be published nearer the clinic but the final day will finish by 4pm at the latest.
The clinic is open to spectators. Tickets are priced at £50 per day or £130 for all three days (inclusive of tea and coffee). We strongly recommend attending the full clinic so you can follow the progress of each horse and rider throughout their lessons.
Please note that tickets must be obtained in advance and will no longer be available for purchase at the door.
