Find a Teacher
Would you like to understand more about riding and training according to the principles of Légèreté?
Are you someone who honours your horse as an individual, and wants to develop a partnership based on an intelligent, systematic, logical approach? Then you can arrange lessons by contacting a licenced or student teacher.
It doesn’t matter what kind of horse you have, or what your previous level of experience is, any rider committed to training ‘with respect for the horse’ will benefit, as will your horse.
What is a licensed teacher?
To gain the title of licensed teacher of the School of Légèreté, a student (who must already be an experienced and dedicated riding teacher) must complete the three-year basic training course and pass a rigorous final exam.
What is a student instructor?
Student instructors are also experienced instructors in their own right. Student Instructors on the Advanced course have completed the 3 year training and passed some of the school's examinations and will be in the process of completing the rest of their exams. Students on the Foundation course are following the basic 3 year training and will be working towards their exams.
Only teachers listed on this site can officially teach the philosophy of Legerete. It is worth checking here before you take lessons, to ensure you are receiving instruction from someone who has had significant input from Philippe Karl and/or a master teacher, and who therefore deeply understands the principles and their application.
This training concept is legally protected by patent. NB: the certificate may be withdrawn on grounds of violations of the ethical principles of the Ecole de Légèreté (see “Twisted Truths of Modern Dressage”).
If you want to find out more about each of the licensed or student teachers, click on their individual profiles.
See our map for teacher locations.
